Tiny Seedlings

I'm still mourning the loss of so many tomato seedlings, but am trying to make myself feel better thinking about all the other vegetables that are direct sown and growing in the garden.  April was a very rainy and cold month here in Indiana, so the seedlings, with the exception of sugar snap peas, haven't had much of a chance to put on decent growth.  But at least the seedlings are still alive, and just waiting for those sunny days to put on some serious growth. I just know it!

In the mean time, these are some of the tiniest babes in the garden.  So little, yet with so much potential!

Dill

Red Russian Kale

Spinach

Scallop (Patty Pan) Zucchini

  1. It's very wet and rainy here too. I always have to say a little prayer for the seedlings when it downpours.

  2. Your seedlings in the garden are coming along nicely. Unfortunately every year there are losses in the garden.

Boy, I wish that my spinach was that big. Spinach is something that I always seem to have a hard time growing....I have no idea why either

  3. Looking good. It's amazing how vigorous the zucchini is even when young!

  4. Those tiny seedlings will be grown before you know it, and I wouldn't fret on the loss....

  5. It's funny but I was thinking about something similar today. My husband was getting worried about some little thing in the garden. And all I could think was that he would make a terrible gardener (he usually doesn't). Seeds don't germinate. Plants die. Diseases kill. Insects eat our plants. The dang groundhog eats all the squash. Every year this happens. Sometimes we don't even know what happened. The plants just disappear without a trace. I think we really have to not be invested in any one thing. Just look to the things that are growing and marvel in what they do.

  6. Aren't babies like these just gorgeous to look at? I love the fresh greenery and then to think about how all that only just came out a little seed days ago. We all loose seedlings - my current problem child are the carrots - just cant seem to make them germinate. All the best with your new rabbit proof fence and these wonderfully yummy looking plabr=ts!

  7. I'm sorry for your loss of the tomato seedlings. I don't know if mine are going to make it. They outgrew the little pellets, but I didn't get them put into bigger pots, so they are now stunted.

Your other seedlings look full of promise.
